For Kids
Did your mom die? Your dad? Your brother or sister? Maybe it was your grandma or grandpa, or your aunt or uncle, or maybe a cousin? Did you have a friend, neighbor or classmate die? Whoever it was that died, they may have been very special to you.
Maybe you were able to see them a lot, like even every day or every week. Maybe you saw them once every month or two. Maybe you didn't get to see them very often at all, but you still cared about them and now you miss them.
And now that they've died, you notice that things are different. This special person isn't here to do the things they used to do with you. You can't call them on the phone or kiss them goodnight. You can't play with them or share your toys with them. But you can still think about them and remember the fun things that you did together. You can look at pictures or watch videos or talk to people who knew them. Maybe you can even laugh and smile about all those fun, silly things you used to do together! In fact, it is good to still think about and talk about that person.
Kids - we have web pages just for you. We are going to be adding some fun things for you to do to learn about feelings and grief, and to help yourself feel better.
Parents - we have information on parenting after a loss and information specifically about helping your children.
