In 1998, Centering Corporation, North America's oldest grief resource center, and the Metro Area Hospice Network created KidsKamp, a day long workshop providing support to grieving children.
KidsKamp led to the creation of Tinsel, Tears and Holiday Hope, focusing on helping grieving children prepare for the holdiays.
In response to parent and professional requests, the idea for Ted E. Bear Hollow was born in 2001. Called together by a shared vision, a dedicated volunteer board made plans for a community grief center for children and their families.
As a result of these programs, on-going support groups have been established. To date, over 2000 participants have been served in the Omaha/Council Bluffs area.
Currently Ted E. Bear Hollow has two full-time staff members and scores of volunteers who serve 600+ participants annually.
In addition to current programs, Ted E. Bear Hollow is now planning to reach into schools to offer support groups for children
who are grieving a friend, teacher, or staff member.
