Support Groups
Come meet other teens your age who have also experienced the death of someone they care about. We do NOT do any therapy here, but we do give you the opportunity to be around other teens who can relate to what you are going through. We have a lot of teens who participate, so you don't have to worry about being the only one. The groups start with supper and then you have an hour in your teen group to do some fun activities, talk, make things...whatever you want to do. Basically, you get to come up with your own group rules/expectations and can share your ideas about what you think would be helpful to do in group. Each group is led by two cool facilitators. Everything we share in group is confidential.
There are two types of support groups we offer. The monthly group meets on the 2nd Saturday of each month and is open to any family at any time. You'll have some new group members each month. The evening bi-weekly group meets every other week for 8 sessions (on either Mondays or Tuesdays). This group has the same people attending each week, so you really get to know people better. If you want to join one of our support groups, you need to have your parent call us at 502-2773 or go to the Events and Programs page to register online.
Camp Hope: A Retreat for Grieving Teens
Camp Hope is our overnight camp for teens who have experienced a death. We know that you're already busy with school, friends, family and maybe even a part-time job! You're working hard in life and in grief, so we want to provide a fun opportunity for you to try some new things. We'll explore new ways to grieve and introduce you to some really cool teens from around the area.
There's a camp in May for first-time Camp Hope participants and the activities include: drumming, horses, sand trays, story telling, challenge course, nature walk, tie-dye shirts, finger painting and more! Depending on the year, we also may offer a November camp. This may be for new participants or for teens coming back for "round two." The Camp Hope activities for returning participants includes: photography, video production, painting, hiking, creative writing, star gazing, challenge course and horseback riding!
For registration information, view the Events and Programs page or call us at 502-2773.
